SCHUMER, CLINTON: CONGRESS APPROVES $8.3 MILLION FOR HANCOCK
FIELD BASE
US Senators Charles E. Schumer and Hillary Rodham Clinton announced
today that Congress has approved $8.3 million in funding for the
Hancock Field base, including $6 million for a Military Entrance
Processing Station for the Army and $2.3 million to replace the
Mobility Processing Center for the Air National Guard.
The news came as the House and Senate approved the FY 2005 Department
of Defense Military Construction Appropriations Bill. The bill will
now go to the President for his signature.
“The citizen soldiers of New York's National Guard have
selflessly sacrificed to fight the war abroad and to defend our
security at home,” said Senator Schumer. “The government
owes them nothing less than to support them with the absolute best
training and equipment available. These projects will help to make
good on that responsibility in Syracuse.”
“These funds are a vital step forward in continuing to insure
that Hancock Field will have the proper facilities to support the
men and women who utilize the installation,” Senator Clinton
said. “I am pleased to support this investment in the Hancock
base. This funding represents a concerted effort - that I am proud
to be a part of - to support the base and ensure the future of the
installation,” said Senator Clinton.
