SCHUMER: BASS PRO ANNOUNCEMENT HUGE FOR BUFFALO

Schumer says Bass Pro and Geico are proof that Buffalo is a desirable location for major companies seeking to locate large facilities

Schumer got the Memorial Auditorium location included in a federal tax-break zone; This area was not originally included in the zone and inclusion in the zone was a key factor in Bass Pro choosing Buffalo

US Senator Charles E. Schumer today issued the following statement in response to the announcement that Bass Pro will be coming to Buffalo

"Today is a great day for Buffalo and it shows that we are beginning to see real progress in our quest to lure major companies to the area," Schumer said. "It's been a long time coming, but with some real teamwork from all levels of government Buffalo finally reeled in the big one. This new Bass Pro store will jump start the redevelopment of Buffalo's Inner Harbor and be a catalyst for more investment in downtown."

Schumer was instrumental in crafting legislation called "Renewal Communities " that brought Memorial Auditorium, the future site of Bass Pro, within Buffalo's federal tax break zone. The tax benefits that the Renewal Community will bring to Bass Pro were a major factor in closing the deal that brought the retailer to Buffalo.
