SCHUMER ANNOUNCES $1.8 MILLION LOAN GUARANTEE FOR SCRIBA COMMUNITY
SPORTS COMPLEX AND CIVIC CENTER
US Senator Charles E. Schumer today announced that the
town of Scriba has been awarded $1,805,000 in guaranteed loans from
the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development. The
money will be used for the development and construction of a community
sports complex and civic center.
"The new civic center do much more than provide children
with a safe, modern athletic facility," said Schumer. "This
project will also bring jobs to Scriba - construction jobs in the
coming months, and at least 51 full-time jobs once the center is
finished. This grant will help fulfill my goal of bringing jobs
and opportunity to Upstate."
The project involves the development of a 75,000 square feet air
structure, which will enclose two soccer fields, and other athletic
facilities. Spectator seating will also be constructed. Once competed,
the complex will also serve as the site for exhibits, concerts,
and other civic events.
