On June 25, 2010, Schumer visited the Bear Mountain Bridge to announce critical counterterrorism upgrades for five Hudson Valley Bridges. Senator Schumer was joined by various officials from the New York State Bridge Authority, including Executive Director Joseph Ruggiero, to announce the disbursement of $3.45 million in grant money from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Post Security Grant Program. The five bridges that will receive upgrades are the Bear Mountain Bridge; Newburgh-Beacon \"Hamilton Fish\" Bridge; Mid-Hudson \"Franklin D.
