On May 7th, 2012 Schumer was at the Corning Preserve in Albany to speak about the future of the Livingston Avenue rail bridge that would connect Albany and Rensselaer waterfronts. Schumer announced his push for CSX, NYS Department of Transportation and Amtrak to include a pedestrian-friendly walkway in future planning of the rail bridge.
