On July 1, 2009, Schumer joined officials from the New York State DEC at their Emerald Ash Borer Incident Command Post in Little Valley to discuss his plan to help in the fight against the Emerald Ash Borer, an invasive species that attacks Ash trees, and was recently found in Randolph, Cattaraugus County. Schumer outlined his plan to get more federal funding to help control the spread of this damaging insect.
