Schumer visited Niagara Engine Co. 6, Schohaire, NY, to present a flag, which was flown of the U.S. Capitol, to the entire fire company as they prepare to open their new firehouse on Saturday.  According to Schumer, the old firehouse was severely flooded from the wrath of Tropical Storm Irene in 2011.  Schumer was pivotal in pressing Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) not to just restore the old firehouse, but to relocate a new firehouse out of the flood plain on higher ground.   Schumer said it took years to convince FEMA, but was ultimately successful. </p>"}}
