Schumer: Hundreds Of New Well-Paying ConServe Jobs Will Be A Shot In The Arm For The WNY Economy

U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer announced today that Continental Service Group, Inc. (ConServe) will be adding 200 jobs between its Henrietta, NY facility, in Monroe County, and its Cheektowaga, NY facility, in Erie County. Schumer explained that ConServe is able to enhance and expand their workforce due to a contract they have to collect debt for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as part of its Private Debt Collection (PDC) Program. Schumer said that ConServe’s successful performance on the IRS contract is the driving force of their current hiring efforts. Starting this month the IRS is increasing its collection work with PDC contractors like ConServe, enabling ConServe to create 200 new jobs.  Schumer applauded ConServe for its strong commitment to the Finger Lakes and Western New York regions and said that these additional well-paying and well-deserved jobs would be a boost to the Western New York economy.

“ConServe has performed exceptionally, and as a result, will bring 200 new, middle-class jobs to Monroe and Erie County. Simply put, this announcement is all about jobs and is great news for Western New York and the Finger Lakes,” said Senator Schumer. “I’m proud today to announce the creation of these good-paying jobs at ConServe, and vow to continue working tirelessly in the Senate to bring new employment opportunities to Upstate New York.”

ConServe CEO Mark Davitt said, “Senator Schumer has been a long-time advocate to grow jobs in Upstate New York, and the 200 new jobs coming to ConServe are a direct result of these efforts.  The senator’s support of the 2015 Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act paved the way for the hundreds of new local jobs we are now adding.”

In 2015, Senator Schumer supported the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act, which was eventually signed into law. Schumer explained that the FAST Act helped clear the way for these new jobs in Western New York, as revenue was required to fund the legislation, including through the collection of non-performing debts held by the IRS. In 2016, ConServe was selected by the IRS as one of four approved contractors to collect unpaid taxes as part of the IRS’s new PDC Program.  The PDC program enables the IRS to bolster its ranks by partnering with companies like ConServe to collect on an estimated over $400 billion in unpaid taxes each year.  Beginning this month, the IRS intends to significantly increase its work with ConServe and the other three PDC program contractors.  As a result ConServe is ramping up staff and adding these 200 new jobs.  ConServe is headquartered in Fairport, NY, and employs 750 people in Western New York.

ConServe plans to host several onsite Open Interview events in the new year and regularly attends local job fairs, such as the upcoming Jobsapalooza in Buffalo on January 9, 2019 and the 11th Annual Greater Rochester Career Conference & Job Fair at Monroe Community College on January 16, 2019.
