SCHUMER ANNOUNCES UPSTATE NY COMPANY – PIONEER IN WYOMING AND CHEMUNG COUNTIES – HAVE BEEN AWARDED CRITICAL CONTRACT THAT IS ESTIMATED TO CREATE 200 JOBS ACROSS UPSTATE NY

The Department of Education Awarded Pioneer New Contract to Resume Its Work With Federal Student Loan Borrowers Recovering From Defaults  – With New Contract, Local Wyoming & Chemung County Company will Hire 200 Workers

U.S. Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer today announced that Pioneer Credit Recovery with operations in Wyoming County and Chemung Counties will begin hiring 200 new workers as a result of a new award-term extension contract awarded to Pioneer by the U.S. Department of Education earlier this year which is beginning this month.  Through this contract, Pioneer workforce will help federal student loan borrowers recover from defaults while collecting loan repayments for the U.S. Department of Education. Schumer said this is expected to bring an initial massive influx of 200 good-paying, middle-class jobs to Upstate New York to support the new volume of work from the Department of Education.

“The creation of roughly 200 jobs middle-class jobs is great news for Wyoming and Chemung Counties. I have visited these services centers and know first-hand how much pride people take in servicing borrowers for the Department of Education. This federal contract will not only create new, good-paying jobs, but also help inject new energy into the Upstate economy,” said Senator Schumer.

Pioneer, which has three facilities in Upstate New York – two located in Wyoming County in the Towns of Arcade and Perry, and one located in Chemung County in the Town of Horseheads – estimates this will allow them to hire up to 200 new workers between these centers.  The Department of Education awarded this contract to Pioneer in April 2017 and work on this contract is resuming this month after a legal delay, enabling Pioneer to continue work it had previously performed for the Department of Education through February 2015.

According to Pioneer, in order to find local employees who qualify for these jobs, the company will be holding recruitment events and job fairs – open to the public.
