Schumer Says Preserving Rochester Jobs Is His Top Priority, and He Will Do All He Can To Help Xerox Thrive in Rochester

U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer today called Xerox Chairwoman and CEO Ursula Burns following the news that Xerox is planning to separate into two companies. Schumer was eager to discern any potential impacts on Xerox’s Rochester operations and job levels. During the call, CEO Burns assured Sen. Schumer that her expectation is that this corporate split will not lead to reductions in the workforce levels in Rochester.

“Preserving jobs in Rochester, particularly the thousands of jobs at Xerox, has always been a top priority of mine. This afternoon I spoke directly with Xerox Chairwoman and CEO Ursula Burns and she assured me that this split will not impact current job levels or Xerox’s footprint in Rochester. Furthermore, she made it clear that there are no plans to sell, further divide, or weaken the Document Technology Business that is based in Rochester.  She made it clear that the Document Technology business remains strong and that Xerox remains committed to Rochester. In the coming weeks and months I will watch this situation like a hawk and continue to do everything I can to help Xerox thrive in Rochester, now and in the future,” U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer.
