Transportation Grant Will Fund New Snow Removal Equipment
Washington, DC - U.S. Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand today announced a total of $176,557 in Department of Transportation (DOT) funding for WilliamsonSodus Airport to acquire new snow removal equipment.
"This is great news for the passengers and pilots that fly in and out of WilliamsonSodus Airport and for the pilots that rely on it as a local reliever airport," said Schumer. "With this funding, the airport can make renovations that will ensure passenger safety and the smooth operation of the facility. I will continue to fight for funds like these that promote safety at all New York airports."
"These are important investments for WilliamsonSodus Airport," Senator Gillibrand said. "These federal dollars will help provide critical upgrades to improve the airport and provide better service for travelers."
According to the Department of Transportation's grant, the federal dollars will be used to acquire a new four wheel drive loader with a frontmounted snow plow and pusher with bucket attachments to enhance the airports' ability to clear the airfield in adverse weather conditions.
