SCHUMER, GILLIBRAND ANNOUNCE MORE THAN $7.3 MILLION IN DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FUNDING FOR VITAL IMPROVEMENTS AT HUDSON VALLEY REGIONAL AIRPORT IN DUTCHESS COUNTY
Department Of Transportation Funding Will Be Used For A New Building And Infrastructure Upgrades
U.S. Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer and U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand today announced $7,393,090 in federal funding for the Hudson Valley Regional Airport in Dutchess County. The funding was allocated through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Specifically, Hudson Valley Regional Airport will use the funding to replace a non-compliant, older building with a new building incorporating Airport Rescue Firefighting (ARF) equipment, snow removal equipment, and airport offices in one central location.
“Keeping Hudson Valley Regional Airport in top-notch shape is crucial for passenger safety and for attracting business to Dutchess County and the Hudson Valley,” said Senator Schumer. “With this funding, Hudson Valley Regional Airport will make critical infrastructure upgrades, including the construction of a sorely-needed new building to centrally locate aircraft rescue and firefighting snow removal equipment, and airport offices which will improve the safety and operations for those that fly in and out of Dutchess County.”
“These federal funds will give the Hudson Valley Regional Airport new resources to be better prepared for emergencies and increase safety for travelers flying to and from the Hudson Valley,” said Senator Gillibrand. “Investments like this are critical to local economic development around our state, and I will continue to fight for the resources that our airports across New York need to be safe, modern, and efficient.”
This funding is awarded through the Airport Improvement Program (AIP) and is administered by DOT’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The Airport Improvement Program provides grants to public agencies for the planning and development of public-use airports that are included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS). Funds obligated for the AIP are drawn from the Airport and Airway Trust Fund, which is supported by user fees, fuel taxes, and other similar revenue sources.
