Schumer, Ryan: Get Ready Orange County…Breeze Airways Has Landed In The Hudson Valley!
U.S. Senate Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer and U.S. Congressman Pat Ryan today announced that Breeze Airways has agreed to expand and enhance its operations by launching new service out of Orange County’s Stewart International Airport with the addition of new round trip flights from Orange County to Orlando, Florida and Charleston, South Carolina starting in February. Schumer and Ryan said Breeze Airways has officially landed at its fifth NY airport, adding flights for Hudson Valley families to highly desired vacation destinations.
“Hudson Valley: prepare for takeoff because new air service is coming to Orange County. For years I have fought to increase service at Stewart Airport and I am proud Breeze Airways has decided to take flight in Orange County. Their new service will help the local Hudson Valley economy soar and better connect the region with the key destinations for our families,” said Senator Schumer. “Breeze Airways’ continued expansion in New York is blowing a gust of fresh air into new affordable air service for Orange County and families across the Hudson Valley. The federal funds I have worked hard to deliver will keep Stewart International in stellar shape, and I am glad that Breeze has heeded my call to continue expansion within New York; the sky is the limit for Stewart International and I will keep fighting to help the airport grow and reach new heights.”
“This is a huge win for not just Orange County, but the entire Hudson Valley,” said Congressman Pat Ryan. “This exciting investment will stimulate tourism, bolster economic development and bring new jobs to the region. We worked hard to add these new routes, and I look forward to Hudson Valley families taking full advantage!”
“The Port Authority has a steadfast commitment to investing in the future growth of New York Stewart. That includes bringing in more airlines, such as Breeze, which in turn helps to spur regional economic activity,” said Port Authority Executive Director Rick Cotton. “New York Stewart offers unique, competitive choices for both domestic and international travelers, and we look forward to this partnership.”
Senator Schumer has long fought to deliver funding to the Stewart airport received $12.8 million in funding across three COVID-19 relief bills that passed Congress during the height of the pandemic. He also fought for formula FAA dollars in the Bipartisan Infrastructure and Jobs Law, with an estimated $12 million for Stewart over the 5-year life of the law.
Schumer has long fought long and hard to bring affordable air services like Breeze Airways to airports across New York. Last year, Schumer brought Breeze Airways to Upstate New York for the first time after launching a major push for the airline to establish service out of Syracuse Hancock International Airport to unserved, high demand areas. Additionally, Schumer helped Breeze land at Plattsburgh International Airport, launching the airline’s service there earlier this year.
