SCHUMER STATEMENT ON BINGHMATON UNIVERSITY PROFESSOR M. STANLEY WHITTINGHAM WINNING NOBEL PRIZE
U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer today released the following statement after Tuesday night’s announcement that Binghamton University Professor in Chemistry and Materials Science & Engineering, M. Stanley Whittingham, has taken home the Nobel Prize for chemistry following his revolutionary research that led to the development of the lithium-ion battery:
“New York couldn’t be more proud of Binghamton University’s own, Professor M. Stanley Whittingham, for winning the Nobel Prize for his groundbreaking research on lithium-ion batteries. Professor Whittingham’s work has helped transform our energy capacity in the United States and revolutionize our energy economy and his work goes on right here in the Southern Tier. Congratulations to Professor Whittingham and Binghamton University, which has always been home to some of the best and brightest minds in our nation,” said Senator Schumer.
