Schumer: Lack Of Safety "Underride Guards" On Trucks Is A Flashing Red Light

“Requiring trucks be equipped with underride guards is a proven technology that will save lives and make our roads safer. Whether to get to work or to drop their kids off at school or to get home for the holidays, most New Yorkers drive regularly on roads where our truck safety standards are lacking and in need of improvement to fill critical gaps and adapt to new safety technology. The reality is underride guards on trucks can help save lives, which is why I am a proud supporter of this bipartisan legislation that develops and enforces new and improved safety standards for trucks. We need to make sure we’re doing everything possible to make our roads as safe as possible,” said U.S. Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer.
