SCHUMER: WATERTOWN’S METALCRAFT MARINE LANDS HUGE $43 MILLION U.S. NAVY CONTRACT; AWARD WILL BRING NEW JOBS TO THE NORTH COUNTRY
U.S. Senate Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer today announced that MetalCraft Marine Inc. of Watertown was awarded a $43,856,283 Navy contract to manufacture Force Protection Small & Large (FPS & FPL) boats to be stationed at United States Military Bases around the world to protect and support our military personnel. Schumer said the new contract will allow MetalCraft Marine to add new jobs in Jefferson County.
“MetalCraft Marine and its world-class workforce have proven time and time again that they can provide superior products to the military, so it’s no surprise that the Navy picked them for this important work,” said Senator Schumer. “This well-deserved contract will not only help protect our troops across the globe, but it will also boost the North Country’s economy and create jobs. I will continue to work with MetalCraft Marine to help secure future contract awards.”
MetalCraft Marine thanked the Navy for a great vote of confidence in the company’s design ability and production quality. “We have enjoyed a long relationship with the Navy that began back in 1998. Working closely with dedicated Navy personnel has helped to build our company into a very high tech, high quality boat builder. We work as great partners together,” said Bob Clark, Contracts Manager for MetalCraft Marine, Inc.
